COmmittees

Get involved. Rumson Jewish Center at Congregation B'nai Israel belongs to all of us. That’s why you are encouraged to bring your talents to one or more of our committees. We welcome your involvement. Whether you have one hour or 100 hours to spare, there is something for you to become involved in at our synagogue.

Cultural Programming (Adult Education)

Plans, coordinates and promotes exciting educational programming throughout the year.  Featured speakers include authors, artists, diplomats and professors. Event highlights include Q & A with invited speakers, group discussions and tasty refreshments.  Programs are designed to serve the needs of a diverse congregation.   


Beautification 

Identifies opportunities for physical improvements to Rumson Jewish Center at Congregation B'nai Israel Building (RJC@CBI) and grounds.


Board of Education

Works in partnership with the Director of the Religious School (SHMA), the Rabbi Jack M. Rosoff Hebrew High School (Aleinu) and Gan Yeladim, the clergy and education staff to set policy and oversee operation of the school programs.



Cemetery

Oversees the policies and grounds for the Congregation B’nai Israel synagogue cemetery located in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.


Community of Caring 

This important committee prepares and delivers food and other short-term services to those in need among our membership. Members of this committee pay hospital visits, visit with homebound congregants and assist those in need with Shabbat preparations.


Community Outreach

This committee is an integral part of our local community and a partner that responds to the needs of all residents, local businesses, local charitable and non-profit organizations and educational institutions, regardless of affiliation.


Endowment

This committee oversees investments of the synagogue funds.


Ezra, Social Action Committee of Rumson Jewish Center at Congregation B'nai Israel

Supports our local community with food and clothing drives and activism in specific areas.

 


Finance 

This committee oversees the budget and financial aspects of the synagogue.


Fundraising 

This committee plans and coordinates major fundraising events. 


House and Grounds

The house committee has oversight of the maintenance and repairs of the RJC@CBI building and grounds. All congregants can be a big help to the committee if you notify us of items that need attention. 


Insurance

This committee helps obtain and selects bids and reviews insurance contracts.


Israel Scholarship 

Connecting students with Israel, Israeli culture, and our common Jewish identity is the continuing mission of the Israel Scholarship Committee. This committee serves our Hebrew High School students and graduates with scholarship opportunities to study in and visit Israel.


Library

This committee promotes and develops programs for RJC@CBI's award winning library. The committee meets monthly to select books and films and arrange yearly film and poetry programs. 


Membership 

Promotes membership to the unaffiliated Jewish Community in our area. Welcomes and integrates new members into the congregational community and engages existing members in the life of the congregation.


Memorial Book

Rumson Jewish Center at Congregation Binai Israel's Memorial Booklets are produced annually and initially distributed at Yom Kippur Yizkor services. They are then used for all Yizkor services throughout the year. Committee members help coordinate the listings each year. 


Men’s Club

This social group promotes membership and volunteerism. Each year, the men’s club builds the Sukkah and helps with the Purim Carnival. 


Publicity

Assist committees and event coordinator(s) with publicity and advertising materials. This committee assists in the creation of advertisements, submits press releases and photos to the local papers including the NJJN, the Hub and the Two River Times.


Religious/Ritual 

Reviews ritual practices and through regular discussions with the clergy, shares ideas to help make worship at RJC@CBI significant and meaningful.


Torah/Haftarah Readers

Join this special committee by reading Torah or Haftarah. Opportunities are available for students and adults to read on a regular basis or on special occasions. 


Youth

Supports and acts as an advisory board for the congregation’s youth groups, partnering closely with the Religious School and Hebrew High School. Special effort is given to continued programming for our post B'nai Mitzvah students.
